In many ways, Worldtone Dance is the ‘Little Shoe Store That Could.’  We have been catapulted from a small family-owned dance shoe boutique to the national spotlight — shoeing the stars of Film, Television, and Broadway.

Once considered New York’s best-kept secret among New York dance professionals, dancers nationwide now call Worldtone “that place with the best selection of dance shoes anywhere.” While we may be New York and Los Angeles’ leading source for dancesport shoes, we have now expanded into the world of beautiful theatrical shoes and elegant bridal shoes.

Having set the Gold Standard in competitive and social ballroom, Argentine tango, salsa, swing, and theatrical shoes, Worldtone set its sights on Broadway.  Now, we provide shoes and custom production services to the Great White Way, Las Vegas and even Hollywood.  Whether it’s classic shoes for “Take The Lead,” “Shall We Dance,” “Glee,” and “Smash,” vintage styles for “Motown The Musical,” “Jersey Boys” and “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” or custom-created pieces for “Boardwalk Empire” or “West Side Story,” either we have it — or we can make it.

Worldtone began as a music store focused on the world of international folk dance.   We even produced recordings from artists on our own label, Worldtone Music. Rubbing elbows with New York’s varied cultures and dance styles, Worldtone founders, Kenneth and Nomi Spear, realized that the one thing their customers couldn’t find were shoes. Soon, their little store evolved into the premier destination for dance shoes in New York.

Since 2002, their daughter, Lani Spear, has helmed Worldtone.  A background in marketing, financial services and technology prepared her to take Worldtone into new markets and media outlets.  In May 2006, Ms. Spear proudly launched Worldtone Los Angeles.  She had barely finished unpacking when the costume designers of “Dancing with the Stars” and  “So You Think You Can Dance” came calling.

Retail Sales.  Broadway.  Television.  The Movies. Each Worldtone location offers more than 350 styles of women and men’s dance shoes and continues to grow.
